Training Your Cat to Use a Litter Box

Training Your Cat to Use a Litter Box
Yuruani Olguin

Cats are very clean and independent animals, making them excellent low maintenance pets. One of the great aspects of having a cat is that they relief themselves in a litter box. This makes cleaning up after them fairly easy.

When bringing home a kitten, many people wonder how they can train their cat to use the litter box.

It is actually quite simple. If your cat has never used a litter box before, keep it uncovered and make sure the edges of the box are low enough for your kitten to climb inside of it with ease.

After your kitten has eaten, take him to the litter box. Begin to dig with your own hands showing him the motion. Cats by instinct will bury their feces to prevent predators from tracking them.

Once your cat has used the box, do not clean it immediately. The odor will help them know where they should go to relief themselves the next time. Once they have used it several times, clean it and rest assured that your kitten is litter box trained.
